Fu Xi, the first sovereign of China, whose lower body is serpent-like. He is the brother, as well as the companion of Nu Wa (fig.), with whom he is usually depicted entwined (fig.), referring to the fact that they were united by the Emperor of Heaven, in order to procreate the human race.
