  golden Totsakan mask (back)

Thailand

The back of the golden Totsakan khon mask, which in Thai is known as Totsakan Nah Thong. At the very top of the peak is a human-like head, which only faces forward and represents Phra Phrom. Hence, at the backside there is no face, but rather the back of a head (fig.).

However, on the base level of the chadah are three smaller golden yak-faces, whilst on the middle of the chadah's peak there are another four faces, that are positioned back-to-back, as if one for every direction of the compass.
