Illustration of the prize winning drawings of the 1996 International Letter Writing Week stamp drawing competition entitled Sea Mammals: 1. Irrawaddy Dolphins (Orcaella brevirostris); 2. Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus); 3. Sperm Whales (Physeter catodon); 4. Dugongs or Indian Sea Cows (Dugong dugon). In the top left corner is the logo of the International Year of the Ocean, which consists of the latter text curved over a pale blue circle, which at the bottom has a highly stylized dark blue wave and the letters IOC, that are placed and shaped in such a way that they form an anchor, while underneath the circle is the name UNESCO, printed as a straight text, rather than curved like the text on top.
