  Khlong Maha Naak

Thailand

One of the smaller public express boats on Khlong Maha Naak in Bangkok, which connects the Khlong Saen Saeb western line (fig.) with Khlong Khoo Meuang (fig.), near Pom Maha Kaan (fig.).

The latter canal, i.e. Khlong Khoo Meuang, is nowadays also known as Khlong Rop Krung, which translates as the ‘Canal that Encircles the City’, as it semi-encircles Rattanakosin in the east and together with the Chao Phraya River in the west completely  surrounds the old part of the city, making it in fact an island, which is consequently referred to as Koh Rattanakosin.
