Phitsanulok

King Naresuan the Great (fig.) of Ayutthaya was as a young prince ruler of Phitsanulok. Here he is depicted pouring water from a pitcher as a symbolic proclamation of lasting freedom. A metaphor for his defeat of the Burmese occupying forces who once driven away would never return, just like water can't return to the pitcher.
