Lemon grass grown fresh in a northern Thai garden near Mae Hong Son. In this area this spice is called ka hom, though the Karen in the village where these plants are cultivated, call it howo tapoh.

 

In Thai it is known as takrai and is widely used in local cuisine (fig.), as well as in Southeast Asian cooking.
