is a flower of the water lily family. In
Buddhism
a metaphor for
Enlightenment, growing from the mud towards the light,
just as Buddhism
raises itself from the pernicious towards Enlightenment. Its petals
symbolise the
Four Noble Truths
and
the
Eightfold Path
revealed to the
world by the
Buddha
and when opened reveals a hard core
with its seeds, symbolising new life. |
