  malai khao tok (mobiles)

Thailand

Mobiles, known in Thai as kreuang khwaen (fig.), made of stringed kernels of rice that have been popped and adorned with colourful paper flowers, usually of a single colour per mobile, are a type of malai khao tok.

Malai khao tok can be made from different kinds of popped rice, known as khao tok (fig.), resulting either in mobiles or garlands (fig.) of an overall white colour, or in a mix of light and dark colours.
