Though found mostly in the region of northern Africa and the Middle East, this beetle, which is known only by its Latin designation Crossotus subocellatus, was spotted at Nawal Parasi in southern Nepal.
It has a body length of approximately 1.6 to 2.5
centimeters, and a pair of long, segmented antennae. It is overall
greyish-brown, with some indistinct buffish spots, and a series of thorny
bumps on its upper elytra.

It has a triangular head with large, black compound eyes, three
elongated bumps and grooves in the centre and along the length of its
thorax, and a W-shaped mark on its lower wing coverts. It usually dwells in
dry and decaying wood of certain species of
Acacia.
