Common Bluebottle
Common name for a species of
swallowtail
butterfly, with the scientific name Graphium sarpedon and with
are around 15 subspecies.
It has mostly black wings with a bluish-green macular band, that runs
from the apex of the forewings to the inner margins of the hindwings, on
both the upper and underside.
In addition, the upperside of the hindwings have a series of blue
submarginal spots, as well as some red spotting on the underside,
including a red spot near the base
(fig.). In Australia, this butterfly is
known as the Blue Triangle, and in Thai, it is called
phi seua saphai fah.
