In the breeding season, the plumage of both Western and Eastern Cattle Egrets has some buff colouring.

In addition, the bill of this Eastern Cattle Egret is yellow near the tip and orange towards the base, whilst its facial skin is purplish.

Its legs have turned reddish, but the feet have remained a dark grey.
