India

In India, domesticated elephants are often decorated with colourful drawings on their skin, as is the case with this individual, seen walking on a road in the Indian capital. Indian elephants are nowadays formally listed as a subspecies of the Asian Elephant, and is listed as the same subspecies as the Thai elephant, namely Elephas maximus indicus.
