TRADITIONS & UTENSILS

  krab (divining cups)

Thailand

Krab or divining cups are pieces of wood used in Chinese temples to request a divine answer to a specific question. They are tossed onto the floor and from their position on the ground an answer is derived.

If both pieces land with the same side up, the answer is negative; if they land with different sides up, this indicates a yin-yang balance and the response is positive.
