  Inle covered bridge

 

Myanmar

A typical Inle covered bridge. This type of pedestrian bridge is highly arched to allow passage of boats.

 

Yet, during the annual Hpaung Daw U Buddhas Procession, the horizontal middle section of these bridges is temporarily dismantled (fig.) to enable the larger Hintha Barge (fig.) to pass.
