  Kui Xing

China

A bas-relief of Kui Xing in a cavern at the Dragon Gate on Kunming's Western Hill (fig.). As usual, the Chinese god of examinations, is depicted holding up a Chinese writing brush and standing on one leg on the head of the sea dragon that escorted him up into heaven. There are also depictions of the Eight Immortals, the ones visible in this picture being Lu Tong-pin (fig.) and Li Tieh-kuai (fig.) to Kui Xing's left and Chung-li Chuan (fig.) to his right.
