  Lohaprasat

The Thai Lohaprasat is the only example of its kind in the world still existing intact and has seven floors. In 2003 renovation on the building started on the occasion of the APEC-meeting, held in Bangkok that year, but took many years to complete. Initially, the pink walls (fig.) were gradually painted white, starting from the top, and the white chedi-like spikes were painted black. The edifice remained like this between 2004 and 2016, until the black spikes were eventually gilded (fig.).
