The Osprey, also known as Sea Hawk, Fish Hawk and Fish Eagle, is a large diurnal bird of prey, which can grow to 66 centimeters tall and has a wingspan of up to 180 centimeters.

 

It has very dark brown upperparts and pure white underparts, whilst in this Eurasian subspecies the breast is streaked with brown. Apart from a blackish eye mask, the head is also white, while the eyes are yellowish.

Like owls, the Osprey has an outer reversible toe, allowing it to grasp its prey with two toes in front and two behind.
