An adult male Plaintive Cuckoo perching on the withered calyx (fig.) of a lotus flower in a lotus pond in Bangkapi, Bangkok.

 

It is distinguished from the Grey-bellied Cuckoo only by the peachy-rufous colour on its underparts. Here, the white and dark bars on the underside of its tail are also visible. See also List of Thai Animal Names.
