  Siriraj Hospital Museum

The Siriraj Hospital Museum is part of the Siriraj Hospital (fig.), an enormous medical complex located in Bangkok Noi District, which besides Thailand's chief university hospital, also houses several museums.

 

The complex spreads out over three buildings (fig.) and several halls, as well as a number of memorials. One of these memorials consists of a Thai-style open sided pavilion called a sala.

It is built over a water basin and houses a statue of Prince Siriraj Kakuthaphan (fig.), the boy after whom the hospital is named, seated on the lap of his father, i.e. King Rama V.
