Bung Supachalasai (บุง ศุภชลาศัย)

Thai. Name of a Navy Captain with the title of Luang and who from 5 August 1933 to 31 March 1934 held the position of Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy. He was also the first Director General of the Department of Physical Education, a position he held from 1 April 1934 to 4 May 1942. In this capacity he overlooked the construction of the National Stadium sports complex in Bangkok, which began in 1937. He is considered the Father of Thai Sport and Sanam Supachalasai, the main and oldest stadium in the complex, is named after him (fig.). He was born on 22 January 1895 and passed away on 26 October 1965.
