TRADITIONS & UTENSILS

wearing a coin in the ear

Thailand

Thais are often seen wearing baht coins in their ears. This is usually the fare for the public bus, boat or songthaew, which is put in the ear for convenience. Obviously, there is no need to search for it, whilst the practice allows for the hands to be free, to hold on to the bus' handgrip.
