VENOMOUS! Whilst capable of delivering painful stings, Yellow Paper Wasp stings are not usually lethal, yet can cause localized pain, redness, and swelling. However, in individuals with allergies, a sting can lead to more severe reactions, including anaphylaxis, which can be life-threatening. In the Indian subcontinent, Polistes olivaceus is colloquially known as Sindhi Wasp and its venomous Hymenoptera sting is purportedly responsible for a number of deaths each year.
