The Phyllodium longipes or dragon's tongue is an evergreen, known in Thai as klet plah and klet lin yai, meaning ‘fish scales’ and ‘long scaly tongue’ respectively (fig.).

This shrub grows up to two meters high and is recognized by its distinctive long, pendant scaly sepals, that hides the inflorescence, that consists of white to pale yellow flowers.
