PROVINCIAL ESCUTCHEON

Pattalung

The escutcheon of Pattalung shows a mountain with a hole in its middle and a chedi at the top. The city Pattalung has been relocated several times throughout history, until the last time in 1924 when it was established in Kuha Sawan (also the name of a cave), nearby the mountain Ok (central) Thalu (hole). This mountain became the city's symbol and the chedi on the top refers to the fact that the population worships it as the local lak meuang.
