PROVINCIAL ESCUTCHEON

Phang Nga

The escutcheon of Phang Nga shows a dredger (fig.) digging for ore, and in the background the mountain Chang. The dredging refers to the extraction of tin. The mountain Chang (elephant) is situated behind the provincial hall and possibly refers to the provincial name Phang Nga (tusk of a female elephant).
