The Phra Phut Buddha image at Wat Phra Thong, in Phuket, which is partially buried in the ground, with only the upper half visible above the surface. According to legend, a local boy tied his buffalo to a piece of metal protruding from the ground.

Upon inspection it was found to be a rasmi, i.e. the flame (fig.) on the head of a Buddha image and all efforts to fully unearth the statue were unsuccessful, hence, the statue was left buried in the ground and the place became a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site.
