indicating the time span from the beginning, when the
Siam Commercial
Bank (SCB) was
established by royal decree of
Rama V,
to the reign of
Rama IX,
when the bank had its centenary, as well as its major
shareholders, i.e. the Crown Property Bureau and the
Ministry of Finance. The
purple
colour of the background is the bank's main colour and
corresponds to the colour of Saturday in the
sih prajam wan
system, the day of
30 January 1907, i.e. 100 years before the date of the
centenary issue, which combines the date and month of the
establishment of
the
Book Club,
which was founded on 4 October 1904 as the predecessor of
the
SCB, with the
actual date on which the
Book Club
became a real
bank by royal decree and changed its name to
Siam
Commercial Bank, i.e.
on 30 January
1907, which in turn is the birthday of Prince
Mahison Rachareuthay,
the then Minister of Finance,
who was instrumental in
establishing Thailand's first bank. Since 2007 was also the
year of the 60th anniversary on the throne of King Rama IX,
as well as the beginning of his
80th
anniversary celebrations,
the frame is
yellow, i.e. the colour of his birthday, which
correspondents to Monday. The representations in the
