Fo Guang Shan Thai Hua Si

Thailand

Typical with Chinese-Taoist temples, the entrance hall has a depiction of Mi Le Fo (fig.), the Chinese  god of happiness and wealth, facing the entry, flanked in front by the Four Heavenly Kings, seen here at Fo Guang Shan Thai Hua Si.

At  this (fig.) Thai-Chinese Mahayana Buddhist temple in Bangkok (fig.), the Four Heavenly Kings are —as is usual— erected in pairs, two on either side of the entrance hall, facing each other.

They are elaborately carved with great detail and set up in 2 small side rooms with decorative latticed screens and of which the entrances are in the form of gilded Moon Gates (fig.).

Out of sight when entering the temple is a statue of Wei Tuo (fig.), who faces the inner courtyard and stands back to back with the Smiling Buddha who faces the entrance.
