Transverse Ladybird Beetle

A species of ladybird beetle in the family Coccinellidae (fig.) and with the scientific name Coccinella transversalis. It has an overall black head, with two tiny orangey-red dots; a black thorax, also with to lateral orangey-red spots, one on the left and one on the right front; and orangey-red elytra, each of which is marked with two black, three-lobed markings, that are often V-shaped or krajab-shaped (fig.). This species occurs from the Indian Subcontinent to Southeast Asia and Australia, and is considered friendly to agriculture, because it preys on a wide array of plant-eating insects and larvae that damage crops.
