  Luang Pho Daeng

Thailand

A statue of Luang Pho Daeng, a revered Buddhist monk who in 1973 died whilst meditating and was consequently preserved in the samahti pose. The mummified monk (fig.) was then put on display in a glass box at Wat Khunaram, a Buddhist temple on Koh Samui (fig.), as a reminder of the transience of human existence.
