Prachinburi

The coat of arms of Prachinburi shows a large ficus religiosa (fig.) that refers to the story of a religious delegation from India that came to Thailand to preach Buddhism bringing along a shoot of the bodhi tree (ton poh) from Bodh Gaya, under which the Buddha was seated when he gained Enlightenment (poh) and planted it in the tambon Kohk Pihp, in the amphur Sri Maho Sot, near Sri Maha ‘Poh’.
