1960 Oil-painting by Mr. Remi Mel, depicting the appointment of missionaries in 1659, prior to their mission to Siam, and whom in 1664 organized the Synod of Ayutthaya, which marked the beginning of Christianity in Thailand. On the right is the present St. Joseph Church, the first Roman Catholic establishment in Siam, and in the right top corner are the national flags of Thailand and of the Vatican, and in Thai numbers the dates 2207 (๒๒๐๗) and 2557 (๒๕๕๗) BE, i.e. 1664 and 2014 AD.
