Thailand

Siamruamjai is one of Bangkok's three well-known charitable organizations that dispatches first responders to an accident or murder scene, and that collects and transports the bodies of the dead to the morgue.

They also act as a volunteer ambulance service, providing first aid and transporting injured victims to a hospital. These volunteer ambulance services are known in Thai as moonlaniti kep sop.

The volunteers are generally unpaid but believe that this form of community service is a honorable way of tamboon in which the good karma gained is returned to themselves, as well as to their families.

These pictures were made at the Siamruamjai office in Bangkapi, opposite of the Erawan statue (map - fig.) which features on their logo, on the occasion of their first anniversary celebration in January 2014, though they have since moved to a larger office nearby on Seri Thai Road.
