  Sang Praeng

A singh or singha is a mythological lion considered to be the protector of Buddhist Law.  There are several types and this one, with clawed feet and a feathery tail, is also known as Sang Praeng. They are often placed as guardians to temple entrances as here at the bot of Wat Suthat (fig.).
