  snake whiskey

Vietnam

In China, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam, often reptiles, such as snakes or lizards, or scorpions, or body parts of wild animals, such as tigers, are placed in jars filled with rice whiskey, as it is believed by some that soaking these things in the alcohol, will make the whiskey into an aphrodisiac and improve overall strength. This kind of alcohol is generally referred to as snake whiskey. This jar in northern Vietnam contains a large cobra with a scorpion in its mouth.
