Ceramic pottery from Sawankhalok was exported all over Asia during the Sukhothai and Ayutthaya period, and  in China was called 'Sangkalok', a mispronunciation of Sawankhalok. A typical characteristic is the tattoo-like paintings on its sculptures (fig.).
