Stingless Bees, known in Thai as channarohng and with the binomial name Trigona laeviceps, spotted in the Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden (fig.) in Chiang Mai. This species build their nests in holes in the soil and make tubular entrances to these nest, i.e. open tubes that form straight chimneys above the nest's holes, in order to raise the entrances above the surrounding vegetation. These pipes are composed of wax mixed with resin and gum, and some species add mud collected by worker bees (fig.).
