  Ratchada bronze statues

Thailand

These bronze statues of playing children are found on Ratchadaphisek Road in Bangkok.

The are playing near water and all of them have a traditional pomjuk (fig.), i.e. one or two tufts of plaited hair.

There is also a Vigeland-like sculpture on a roundabout.

One of the two children on top of this group, is holding a ring, part of the traditional game ti look lo, in which the ring is bowled along by hitting it with a wooden stick, a children's game from the past, which is nowadays more often displayed in art (fig.) rather than played.
