Some temples have no ubosot and thus keep their important Buddha images in the viharn instead, as this prayer hall of Wat Ratchanaddah, here seen from the adjacent Lohaprasat (fig.).

Believers also gather to pray in the viharn, which is also transliterated wihaan, as seen here in the chapel of Wat Suthat in Bangkok.
