  tamboon in temples

The making of offerings or tamboon to gain merit is a common sight in temples throughout Thailand. The most common offering consists of a lotus and orange candles, both symbols of Enlightenment. The burning of three incense sticks symbolises Buddha, Sangha and Dhamma. Often gold leaf is applied on special venerated Buddha images, a tradition called pit thong.
