The gable board on temples is usually a colourful bas-relief, with symbols, figures or gods from Buddhist or Hindu mythology. On  traditional style houses this is a decorated woodcarving usually with mythological figures (fig.). Here a yan sign (fig.) is portrayed, placed on a phaan (fig.) and in between two chats (fig.).
