Chao Ngo is the nickname given to Phra Sang in the story of Sangthong (fig.), when he was in the city of Benares (fig.), disguised as an ogre of the Ngo tribe, with a black complexion and curly hair.

 

Since Phra Song had in fact a golden body underneath this disguise, dolls of Ngo (fig.) are believed to attract gold, or alternatively money.
