makara with naga
The handrail of the staircase to the bot at Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai. It has the shape of a makara (fig.) with an enlarged mandible from which a naga (fig.) emerges. This combination of a makara with a naga is called nagamakara (fig.).
