Singapore

The Singapore Dollar is the official currency of Singapore. Coins of the third series, all depict the Singapore Coat of Arms, a shield bearing a crescent moon and five stars, akin to the national flag (fig.), supported by a lion and a tiger standing over a banner with the national motto ‘Majulah Singapura’ in Malay, which translates to ‘Onward, Singapore’.

On the reverse side of one dollar coins, issued from 2013 onward, is the depiction of Merlion, a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish (fig.), and the official mascot of the Republic of Singapore, whose name means ‘Lion City’ (fig.). Embossed next to it is the Singapore Orchid (fig.), the nation's  national flower.
